Research Triangle Park, N.C., January 5, 2005- SciQuest, Inc. today announced that Tim Minahan, Senior Vice President of Supply Research and Strategy with the Aberdeen Group, was named as the keynote speaker for SciQuest's 2005 Next Level conference. SciQuest will host its third annual event in Marco Island, Florida on January 31 to February 2, 2005.

As an industry analyst, Minahan provides analysis and assessment of software and services that automate and streamline procurement, sourcing, and supply management operations. A recognized expert on supply chain and technology issues, Minahan has appeared on CNN and ABC News as well as in several business publications. In 2003, he was named one of "50 Pros to Know" in the supply chain management sector by iSource Magazine, for the second time in as many years, and was also named one of the SCM sector's most influential analysts by Supply Chain Technology News .

"It is an honor to be invited as the keynote speaker for the Next Level conference," said Minahan. "It is an excellent opportunity for university administrators to discuss spend management issues, to network and to learn about new advances in technology."

Minahan specifically focuses on total cost management (TCM), which is an organizational and technological framework for managing the total cost of ownership of supply relationships. Within TCM, Minahan tracks spending analysis, sourcing, procurement execution, contract management, and supplier performance measurement technologies. Minahan continually consults with early implementers of these applications to identify world-class supply management strategies and to determine the strengths and weaknesses of technology solutions and services that are competing in this market. He has recently completed studies examining best-practices in spending analysis, strategic sourcing, and contract management and has just published Aberdeen's third bi-annual benchmark on e-procurement deployments.

"We are pleased to have Minahan join us for the 2005 Next Level conference," said Stephen Wiehe, president and CEO at SciQuest. "As a leading thinker on spend management issues, he will be able to share an incredible wealth of knowledge, including trends and best practices, with university leaders."

The NextLevel conference is designed to provide members of the higher education community a forum to exchange best practices, past successes and discuss the future direction of procurement. This year's NextLevel conference will also bring together the leaders in campus purchasing for two and a half days of networking, interactive sessions and future product direction forums.
